Penn State Learning continues tutoring and guided study groups remotely

March 23, 2020

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Learning is providing one-on-one tutoring and guided study groups remotely as students settle in to finish all classes remotely for the Spring 2020 semester.

Students can schedule appointments with tutors from their Starfish landing page. Also, supported Canvas courses will have links to Zoom rooms for sessions and exam reviews.

Director Neill Johnson said March 16 was the first day for tutoring and March 18 for guided study groups groups after Penn State Learning pivoted entirely to remote tutoring. So far, he said, students and peer tutors are adapting well despite some challenges. Some of the hours changed from previous drop-in tutoring, but Johnson said Penn State Learning is providing mostly the same hours coverage as before.

Guided study groups are still popular, he said, where multiple students work on practice problems provided by peer tutors, and have the opportunity to ask questions.
