UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Libraries’ University Park locations will change hours of operation beginning Wednesday, March 18, to noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday to continue to support transactional requests. Library users University-wide are encouraged to make use of the University Libraries’ robust online services and resources available at https://libraries.psu.edu.

The Ask a Librarian service continues via online chat, text message, email and phone. Details are available at https://libraries.psu.edu/ask. In addition, a new Remote Resources for Library Users page, curated with links to a variety of resources and services, is available at https://libraries.psu.edu/remote-resources-penn-state-library-users. Content highlights include more than 850 online and expert-curated databases — including multimedia resources available for streaming — as well as 225,000 online journals and more than 2.2 million e-books.

Library users seeking to check out physical materials are encouraged to submit requests for titles in the online catalog using the “I Want It!” button at least one business day in advance of arrival. Requesters will receive an email message confirming when the material is ready for pickup. Requested materials will be retrieved by staff and will be held for pickup at the library lending desk until the library resumes normal operations.

Pattee Library and Paterno Library will be accessible exclusively via its Curtin Road entrance. Individual library transactions, including pickup of requested materials using the “I Want It!” service, will occur at the Commons Services desk, first floor Pattee Library.

The Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library, Earth and Mineral Sciences Library, Engineering Library, and Physical and Mathematical Sciences Library also will follow these hours of operation.

Library hours will be reviewed on a regular basis and may be subject to additional changes as circumstances warrant.

Updated information from Penn State leadership and its COVID-19 action groups can be found at https://psu.edu/virusinfo. The University Libraries’ COVID-19 updates page also will be refreshed as changes occur.
