Penn State Berks basketball players earn All-Conference recognition

LATHAM, N.Y. — Kylie Herman was selected to the All-NEAC First Team and Katie Armstrong was named to the second team, as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.

Herman, who was previously a second (2017-18) and third team (2018-19) selection, is the first member of the women's basketball program to earn first team recognition since Courtney Bailey, who was a three time recipient. Armstrong is the first member of the second team since Herman earned the honor in the 2017-18 season.

Herman has played a central role in the Nittany Lions success this season. The senior guard has started and played in 17 games this season. She leads the NEAC with 19.9 points per game average. Herman has notched 10 or more points in all of the 17 games she played in and she has recorded 21 or more points eight times. She has shot 39.2% (1130-of-332) from the floor and 79.3% (65-for-82) from the free throw line. In addition, Herman has recorded 93 rebounds (5.5 per game), 48 assists, 28 steals, and eight blocks.

Armstrong has been a key piece on the offensive and defensive ends of the court. The junior guard has started and played in all 25 games this season. Armstrong averages 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 3.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. She ranks first in the NEAC for steals (98), third for free throws made (86), fourth for assists (103), sixth for field goal percentage (46.7%), seventh for points (388) and free throw percentage (76.1%). Armstrong has recorded 10 or more points in 22 contests and had 20 or more points on six occasions. She has pulled down 10 or more rebounds five times and handed out 10 assists once. Armstrong has recorded five double-doubles this season.

Herman and Armstrong helped the Nittany Lions to their first NEAC postseason win in 10 years by combining for 52 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday. Armstrong tallied a career-best 30 points, while Herman followed with 22 points. The duo, along with the rest of squad, will take on SUNY Poly in the NEAC Semifinal round at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29.
