UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Society for Indian Music and Arts and Nritya, both student organizations at Penn State, will present “Dances of My Land” from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, in the Flex Theatre in the HUB-Robeson Center at University Park.
As a land of dozens of languages and thousands of dialects; a cradle of civilization that arose five millennia ago; and a vast people of many colors, creeds, beliefs and ways of life, India's diversity is perhaps exemplified most exquisitely in its many art forms. In this land, ancient classical music and dance thrive harmoniously next to colorful folk traditions, and contemporary and experimental forms.
“Dances of My Land” will celebrate the various classical dance traditions of India through performances by Penn State students, former and present, and by members of the Penn State community. Tickets are $10 for members of the general public and $8 for Penn State students with ID. This event has been funded by the University Park Allocation Committee.
