UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Undergraduate students who access Penn State University Libraries’ resources or services and who struggle to pay for their education are encouraged to apply for 2020 University Libraries scholarships.

The University Libraries offers a variety of awards annually to Penn State undergraduates. Some are for those considering pursuing a master’s degree in library science, library information science or librarianship, or those who have been in foster care.

Other scholarships target students studying:

  • the College of the Liberal Arts;
  • the School of Hospitality Management and;
  • STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and math).

These scholarships are intended to help with current school costs, and awards start at $500 and range up to $3,000.

Students who have never thought about a career in libraries may not be aware of the wide range of career paths that exist in this field, in the academic, business or public realm. Library professionals work in teaching and research and have access to the latest technology in the field of information access and delivery.

The deadline to submit 2020 scholarship applications is Friday, May 1. Descriptions of each award, application details, additional information about the diverse roles in library science careers, and an application form are available at libraries.psu.edu/about/scholarship-opportunities.
