Borge's research interests are at the intersection of learning, cognition and design. Her current research focuses on unpacking group cognition and student needs in order to design new tools to enhance learning processes and examining the trade-offs associated with technology-enhanced learning in human-centered design contexts. Her areas of interest and expertise include computer-supported collaborative learning, sociometacognition, human-centered educational design, and the design and evaluation of technological tools to enhance collective thinking processes and support learning communities. Before joining the College of Education in 2014, she was a senior research associate and graduate faculty member in the Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology. She earned her doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley.
