Behrend wrestlers end Erie Hall era with a win

ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend’s wrestling team avenged a one-point loss to Pitt-Bradford, winning the rematch 32-23. The Feb. 5 dual meet was the final varsity event in Behrend’s Erie Hall, which will be replaced by a larger fitness and recreation center later this year.

The college’s basketball, volleyball, and track and field teams also were in action last week. Here are the highlights:

Men’s basketball

La Roche 96, Penn State Behrend 92

Penn State Behrend 76, Alfred State 58

Devin Pope, a sophomore from Ripley, New York, scored 24 points against Alfred State. Kenny Fukon, a junior from Cranberry Township, scored 19 against La Roche.

Women’s basketball

La Roche 73, Penn State Behrend 66

Penn State Behrend 71, Alfred State 57

Alanna Dibble, a sophomore from Lakewood, New York, scored 22 points against La Roche. She scored 20 more against Alfred State.

Men’s track and field

The Lions won the top three spots in the pole vault at the Mount Union Invitational. Nick Lachut, a sophomore from Pittsburgh, placed first, clearing a height of 4.81 meters.

Women’s track and field

Riley Crissman, a senior from Bradford, placed second in the 5,000-meter race at the Mount Union Invitational. She finished in 19:00.24.

Men’s volleyball

Penn State Behrend 3, St. Vincent 0

Penn State Behrend 3, Mount St. Joseph 1

Outside hitter Dillon Hildebrand, a senior from Red Lion, became the first player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills. He scored 17 against Mount St. Joseph.

Wrestling

Defiance 51, Penn State Behrend 6

Case Western 53, Penn State Behrend 6

Penn State Behrend 32, Pitt-Bradford 23

Brandon Miller, a junior from Hermitage, won by pin against Case Western and by technical fall against Pitt-Bradford.
