UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Nittany AI Alliance, the Institute for Computational and Data Sciences, and Penn State Information Technology invite students, researchers and staff to attend an AI Immersion Workshop with Amazon Web Services on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 21-22, at the Flex Theatre in the HUB-Robeson Center at University Park.

The two-day event will feature sessions about Machine Learning for Research, Hands-on Training for AWS Machine Learning Platform, and AI and Machine Learning for Institutes of Higher Education. The workshops will be presented by Raju Penmatcha, senior artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions architect for Amazon Business Services; Randy Ridgely, principal solutions architect for Amazon Business Services; and Joe Pringle, technical business development manager in artificial intelligence and machine learning for Amazon Web Services.

“The AWS team is excited to meet with students, researchers and staff at Penn State,” said Pringle. “During the workshop we will share what we are up to in the AI space in regard to higher education, as well as hope to learn from the Penn State community.”

Don Welch, interim vice president for Penn State Information Technology and chief information officer, said the AI Immersion Series is designed to give students opportunities beyond a classroom lecture.

“This workshop is an excellent opportunity for our students to gain hands-on experience with AI and machine learning tools,” Welch said. “Penn State IT is excited to partner with the Nittany AI Alliance to continue to support our students’ learning through events like these.”

The workshop is free to attend, but registration is required. If you are an undergraduate student, register here. If you are a researcher, register here. If you are a staff member, register here.
