Senior women's basketball player Ebony Sanders grabbed 15 rebounds including her 1,000-career rebound in a 64-56 win over Penn State Hazleton on Dec. 10. Sanders became the only player in PSU-LV history to score 1,000 career points and to grab 1,000 career rebounds and the fourth player in PSUAC history to accomplish this.
Women's basketball runs by Penn State Schuylkill, 67-56
The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team improved to 5-2 in PSUAC play with a 67-56 win over visiting Penn State Schuylkill on Dec. 13. Taylor Styles led the way with 18 points and Ebony Sanders recorded yet another double double with 15 points and 18 rebounds. Lehigh Valley went into break sitting in second place in the PSUAC East Division.
Men's basketball falls to Penn State Schuylkill 71-59
Penn State Lehigh Valley had three players in double figures but it was not enough as Lehigh Valley fell to visiting Penn State Schuylkill, 71-59, on Dec. 13. Erick Dixon had a game-high 18 points, Hesro Johnson chipped in with 15 points and Jacquiel Washington added 11 points off the bench.
Men's basketball falls at Central Penn College
The Penn State Lehigh Valley men's basketball opened 2020 with a tough road loss, 116-47, at Central Penn College on Jan 4. Connor O'Brien led with 17 points and Hesro Johnson added 13 points for the Nittany Lions.
Women's basketball falls to Central Penn, 67-62
The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball team opened 2020 with a loss to host Central Penn College, 67-62, on Jan. 4 in Enola. Despite a limited roster, Lehigh Valley had 3 players in double figure scoring led by Ebony Sanders with another double double 29 points and 18 rebounds. Anaya White also recorded a double double adding 17 points and a career high 23 rebounds. Kristin Curry chipped in with 12 points. Lehigh Valley falls to 6-7 overall.
Men's basketball trips up at Thaddeus Stevens College, 67-49
A cold shooting night hampered Penn State Lehigh Valley men's basketball team on the road against Thaddeus Stevens College, 67-49, Jan 7. in Lancaster. Lehigh Valley was led by Hesro Johnson with 14 points, followed by Connor O'Brien with 12 points and Dajour Douglas chipping in with 11 points.
Women's basketball blows by Vermont Tech, 83-51
The Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball improved to 7-7 overall on the season with a 83-51 win over visiting USCAA Division II opponent Vermont Tech on Jan. 8 in Allentown. Lehigh Valley led at halftime 42-24 and never looked back. Three players were in double figures scoring led by Ebony Sanders with another double double 22 points and 14 rebounds. Gretta Bankes converted defensive hustle into 13 points and Anaya White chipped in with 10 points.
Lehigh Valley finished now concentrate on PSUAC play when they open conference play with a western PA trip to take on Penn State Beaver on Jan. 17 and Penn State Fayette the next day.
Montgomery County Community College too much for men’s basketball
The Penn State Lehigh Valley men's basketball team struggled against visiting Montgomery County Community College size and was not able to shoot well from the floor and fell to the visitors, 99-33, Jan. 11 in Allentown. Hesro Johnson and Dajour Douglas were the only two Nittany Lions that scored in double digits. Johnson added 12 points and Douglas with 11 points.
Lehigh Valley finished their nonconference schedule and now will look to focus on PSUAC play starting with western PA travel on at 6 p.m. Jan. 17 versus Penn State Beaver and at 1 p.m. on Jan. 18 versus Penn State Fayette.
