Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra to present 'Guzman Plays Mozart' on Jan. 19

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra (PCO) will perform with Penn State School of Music faculty member and pianist Christopher Guzman under the baton of PCO Music Director Yaniv Attar at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, in the School of Music Recital Hall, located in Music Building I, at University Park.

Guzman will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor. The program also will feature Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and Bizet’s Symphony in C Major. 

Guzman regularly performs for audiences throughout North America, Europe and Asia as a soloist and chamber musician. His career has brought him to such venues as Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, Leipzig’s Gewandhaus, the Kennedy Center, Carnegie’s Weill Hall, London’s Wigmore Hall and others. He performs with members of the world’s finest orchestras, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and he appears regularly on the New York Philharmonic’s chamber music series “Philharmonic Ensembles.” 

The Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra is central Pennsylvania’s all-professional chamber orchestra. For the past 29 years the PCO has performed both rare and well-known music by the greatest composers from the Baroque period to the present day. Its season includes a series of three orchestral concerts, an annual holiday concert, a family concert, and several chamber music concerts under the direction of Attar and featuring world-class soloists.
