UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Dependent Grant-in-Aid (GIA) is a 75% discount on the in-state tuition charge for the spouse and eligible dependent children of full-time Penn State employees and applies to the University resident instruction at all campuses, Penn State World Campus, and the Pennsylvania College of Technology.

For Penn State employees wanting to take advantage of the Dependent GIA benefit for spring 2020, which opened Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, the following deadlines to apply are listed below.

Technical Service: Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020
(Technical Service employees’ deadlines are governed by their collective bargaining agreement.)

Faculty and Staff: Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020

Employees must complete a new GIA request form on or before the deadline each semester or summer session in which the GIA is to be applied. The GIA request form can be accessed through Workday by clicking on the Benefits worklet.

Faculty, staff, technical service and retirees wishing to use the tuition discount for themselves do not need to submit an application. The discount is automatically applied through the Bursar’s Office.

Questions about the GIA benefit should be directed to HR Services at 814-865-1473.
