DUBOIS, Pa. — Penn State DuBois will offer two unique instructional courses in golf this spring for those looking to either take up the sport for the first time, or for current golfers looking to improve their game.

"Fundamentals of Golf" is designed to help beginners learn the different clubs, how the game is played, golf etiquette and more. Hands-on group and individual exercises will help to develop the correct golf swing. The class, which is limited to 12 students, will run from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays from Feb. 26 through April 1.

"Get a Grip on Your Golf Game" is for the more experienced golfer who wants to improve his or her game and learn new techniques to correct bad habits. The class will focus on improving one's game with advanced instruction. Class size is limited to 12, and will run from 7:10 to 8:10 p.m. on Wednesdays from Feb. 26 through April 1.

Both classes will be taught by Greg Kennis, owner of Kenterra Golf Course near DuBois, which was established in the fall of 2004 as a family-owned and operated business. The Kenterra course was constructed using only the natural layout of the Kennis family farm. Kennis graduated from Penn State with a degree in turfgrass science in 2000. Weather permitting, some instruction will be held at Kenterra Golf Course.

Registration for both courses is open now, and the cost per course is $99. Pre-packaged certificates are available to be given as holiday gifts.
