UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State faculty can now register for the 2020 Schreyer Conference, scheduled for 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020.
Participants can participate in one of three ways: in-person at the Collaborations Commons of the Paterno Library, at their respective Penn State campus, or online. Participants can register and find more information here.
The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence reported that a recent campus-wide survey indicated 79% of Penn State’s teaching faculty regularly read research on teaching and learning, 55% of them have collected evidence in their classes, and 38% of them have either published or presented on teaching-related subjects.
Those interested in learning about the latest research on teaching and learning, or perhaps even engage in some of that research themselves, should plan to attend the 2020 Schreyer Conference. The theme this year is “teaching+learning+scholarship,” and participants will be able to explore the intersections between what they do in the classroom, how their students learn and what we can do to understand that better.
The conference is designed to reflect these intersections by providing a variety of session types, including the use of small group working sessions which will enable attendees to connect what they learn at the conference to a project for their classroom or for publication. The conference also includes focused workshop sessions to enhance skills and knowledge, and lightning-round sessions featuring exemplary evidence-based teaching and learning that goes on at Penn State.
Attendees can come to single sessions, or spend the day with the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence (in person, on campus, or virtually) and immerse themselves in the exploration of teaching, learning and scholarship.
The 2020 Schreyer Conference is sponsored by the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence, the Schreyer Honors College, and the Pattee and Paterno libraries.
