Corporate Communication Club to host art show Nov. 20

This spring, the Sherbine Lounge served as the exhibit space for the Undergraduate Research Fair and Exhibition's Art and Creative Exhibit, which showcased student artwork, sculpture and photography. DUNMORE, Pa. — Writing and speaking skills are integral for any corporate communication professional. But creativity plays a key role, too.

With that in mind, the Penn State Scranton Corporate Communication Club will give students the chance to showcase their artistic flair when it hosts an art show on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Sherbine Lounge of the campus Study Learning Center.

The show will feature about 35 to 40 pieces of art, according to Maria Veniamin, president of the Corporate Communication Club.

"It’s a platform that Penn State students can have to showcase their skills and creativity,” Veniamin said. “The event was a fitting choice for corporate communication because, though we are a business-oriented major, we also utilize a creative aspect in most projects that we do. This is what sets us apart.”

Veniamin said a variety of artistic mediums will be represented at the show, including painting, drawing, sculpture, digital, photography and videography.

The submitted pieces will not be judged, Veniamin said. Rather, she said, the show is meant to be “a celebration of art and diversity.”

The event will also include free seasonal refreshments, including a variety of pies and apple cider donated by Ritter’s Cider Mill in Mount Cobb.

In addition, attendees will have the chance to win several basket raffle items, including: a paint and canvas bundle; a light-up keyboard and mouse; and a gift basket from Abington Art Studio in Clarks Summit. The grand prize will be a new Polaroid camera with accessories.
