UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Global Programs is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Advancing Global Penn State Awards, and applications for the annual W. LaMarr Kopp International Faculty Award and the Ardeth and Norman Frisbey International Student Awards. Recipients are recognized at the Global Programs Awards Luncheon in the spring.
Advancing Global Penn State Awards
The purpose of the Advancing Global Penn State Awards program is to recognize outstanding contributions of individuals and academic units across the University, including the Commonwealth Campuses, who have demonstrated success towards achieving the goals of a Global Penn State. Awards are given in five categories; complete award descriptions are available online. The deadline to submit nominations online is Jan. 20, 2020.
W. LaMarr Kopp International Faculty Award and the Ardeth and Norman Frisbey International Student Awards
The Kopp and Frisbey awards are designed to recognize those at Penn State who make extraordinary contributions to the advancement of the international mission of the University. An applicant must be a full-time faculty member or student at Penn State. The deadline to apply is Jan. 20, 2020.
One faculty member will be selected to receive the W. LaMarr Kopp award of $1,500. This award recognizes faculty for excellence in leadership, commitment and international education through research, teaching and service. Last year, the research team of Professors Siela Maximova and Mark Guiltinan won the award.
Four international students (holding non-immigrant status) will be selected for the Ardeth and Norman Frisbey Awards. Two awards for graduate students and two for undergraduate students will be awarded at $2300 each. Consideration is given to students who are enrolled in an academic program at any Penn State campus and have exhibited exemplary contributions furthering international understanding.
