Award-winning editor to discuss women, leadership, journalism and more Nov. 14

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — An accomplished author and journalist will be the featured guest for a free public lecture Nov. 14 on Penn State's University Park campus.

Julia Wallace, co-author of "There's No Crying in Newsrooms: What Women Have Learned About What it Takes to Lead," will deliver a lecture beginning at 6:30 p.m. in 112 Kern Building. Wallace will offer insights into her experience as a journalist and author during the lecture, which shares the title of her book, “There’s No Crying in Newsrooms.”

Wallace served as the first female editor-in-chief at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and is the current Frank Russell Chair in the Business of Journalism at Arizona State University. She also has served as managing editor of the Arizona Republic, the Chicago Sun-Times and USA Today.

Wallace has been recognized with the Alumni Merit Award from her alma mater, Northwestern University, and has been inducted into the Medill School of Journalism Hall of Achievement. In 2004, she was recognized as the Editor of the Year by Editor & Publisher Magazine.
