Statement from University Police for the University Park community

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Police and Public Safety would like to make you aware that Jeffrey Scott Reese, 43, of Nederland, Texas, who is not affiliated with Penn State, and who has previously threatened an employee at Penn State's University Park campus, has been released from the Centre County Correctional Facility. Reese is prohibited from any Penn State property as a condition of release. While we have not received information about any specific threats, we wanted our community to be aware that out of an abundance of caution, Penn State is taking enhanced security measures at University Park, including increased University Police presence, close communication with additional law enforcement authorities, and enhanced building security.  

The safety and well-being of the University community is our highest priority, and as always, we encourage everyone to be observant and vigilant — if you see something unusual or suspicious, report it to University Police at 814-863-1111. If you feel it is an emergency and/or a threat is imminent, call 911.
