UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As part of our regular "We Are!" feature, we recognize two Penn Staters who have gone above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Karen Beruck of Penn State Hazleton, whose nominator wrote: "Karen works diligently to help new students transition to Penn State Hazleton. She immediately connects with students to welcome them to our community. Her outstanding efforts positively impact our students and create a friendly atmosphere for all."
Katie Gaines of Penn State World Campus, whose nominator wrote: "No matter the situation or question, Katie always has a calm demeanor and a logical response. She never makes anyone feel like they are 'less than.' She really listens and cares about those she works with. She makes us understand that we are valued and appreciated. I'm very glad she is my supervisor."
