Two coaches added to Penn State Lehigh Valley basketball coaching staff

Ray Edwards named head men's basketball coach

Penn State Lehigh Valley Athletics would like to welcome new head men's basketball coach Ray Edwards to the Lehigh Valley campus. Edwards enters his first season as head coach of the men's basketball program at Penn State Lehigh Valley.

A native of Syracuse, New York, Edwards completed his bachelor of science in exercise science at Temple University in 2015 before beginning his coaching career as assistant junior varsity coach at local Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. In 2016, Edwards was brought on as assistant coach and later named associate head of the men's basketball program at Northampton Community College.

In three seasons, Edwards helped coach the NCC program to two EPAC conference titles and three top 15 nationally ranked seasons. Edwards stated, "I am truly blessed to have this opportunity and am looking forward to bringing long-term recognition to the program."

Edwards will have his head coaching debut when the team travels to Centenary University 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 for tipoff.

Advia Campbell added to women's basketball staff

Penn State Lehigh Valley (PSU-LV) Athletics along with Head Coach Lorie Khalil would like to welcome a new addition to the women's basketball staff, Advia Campbell. Campbell enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Penn State Lehigh Valley women's basketball program. 

Campbell is a 2015 Kutztown University graduate. Following her playing career, she went on to coach one year at Bloomsburg University, and another at Slippery Rock University, before returning back to her alma mater, Kutztown University, in 2017. Campbell spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the KU Golden Bears before joining the PSU-LV women's basketball staff this season. 

As a player, Campbell was a two-time All-PSAC East selection and a two-time PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Year. She started in 80-of-112 career games and was a 1,000-point scorer for the Golden Bears with 1,018. 

Campbell posted the program's first-ever triple-double on Dec. 7, 2014, with 11 points, 15 rebounds and a school-record 10 blocks. She owns the single-season blocks record with 76 and ranks second in school history with 181 in her career. She also ranks sixth in school history in rebounds (739) and seventh in steals (182) for her career.

Campbell will be joining a program that came off its best season in school history in 2019, with a record of 25-3 with 24 straight wins and the first ever PSUAC Women's Basketball Championship. The season kicks off when the team travels to compete in the nationally ranked Messiah College Tip-Off tournament on Nov. 8.
