Emerging writer Matt Jones to read Oct. 29

Matt Jones, emerging writer-in-residence, will read from his work at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at Penn State Altoona.

Jones has a master of fine arts degree in creative writing from the University of Alabama. His prose has appeared in such journals as The Southern Review, The Atlantic, New England Review, The Threepenny Review, and Chicago Tribune. His nonfiction has been included in the Best American Science and Nature Writing 2019 anthology, and he has received support from the Ohio Arts Council, Vermont Studio Center, Sitka Center for Art and Ecology and The Leopold Writing Foundation.

The emerging writer-in-residence program at Penn State Altoona is a one-semester position created to support the careers of up-and-coming poets and writers by giving them time to write along with teaching experience.

Sponsored by the English Program and the Division of Arts and Humanities, the reading is free and open to the public.
