UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Individual students or groups are encouraged to submit proposals about their engagement experiences for the third annual Student Engagement Expo in the HUB-Robeson Center on Nov. 13.
Students from all campuses are invited to participate in the form of a traditional poster or as a lightning-round presenter. Poster presenters will discuss their experiences with event attendees. These experiences could be research findings, community service, capstone projects, and any other type of engagement experience.
The lightning rounds will be styled like TED Talks and will last no longer than five minutes each. Presenters can be solo or in groups and there will be an opportunity for a practice round.

The Nov. 13 expo will run from 6 to 9 p.m. in Alumni Hall. Lightning talks are scheduled from 7 p.m. to about 8:15 p.m., with the keynote address to follow.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Joe Battista, known for helping to bring varsity ice hockey to Penn State and the owner of Pragmatic Passion LLC. In his book, “The Power of Pragmatic Passion,” Battista conveys the lessons he learned during his years as a championship-winning hockey coach and executive.
“We are so excited that Joe Battista is joining us for this event,” said Michael Zeman, director of the Student Engagement Network. “He provides an extremely relevant message for students. You don't want to miss it.
“Students who either attend or present at the expo have been impacted deeply by the experience. If you are looking for inspiration or motivation to ‘find your why’ or ‘start your journey’ at Penn State, join your fellow students on Nov. 13 for a night of stories and ideas.”
The Student Engagement Network is a joint initiative between Undergraduate Education, Student Affairs, and Outreach and Online Education.
