UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) is announcing the availability of Level 1 and Level 2 funding to support faculty members in the social and behavioral sciences at Penn State.
“We are interested in supporting new research programs that address critical human and social problems at the local, national and international levels,” said Susan McHale, director of SSRI and distinguished professor of human development and family studies.
The Level 1 funding mechanism is designed to assist social science faculty to form interdisciplinary research teams by supporting meetings to discuss mutual interests, develop research questions, identify leaders, conduct literature reviews and collect pilot data.
Level 2 funding is designed to support interdisciplinary teams that propose theoretically grounded, well-formulated aims and rigorous methods with strong potential to attract external funding.
Tenured/tenure-track and research faculty are eligible to apply as principal investigator for either level of funding. Proposals for both Level 1 and Level 2 funding may be submitted at any time during the year.
