Third annual WE ARE Lehigh Valley Homecoming Week a big success

Penn State Lehigh Valley hosted its third annual homecoming week at the campus and at locations around the Lehigh Valley community during the week of Sept. 23.

The week-long celebration included many free, fun, family friendly events for the Penn State community. The week kicked off with an athletics pep rally on Monday, Sept. 23 at the Lehigh Valley campus.

Sports fans cheered on the Penn State Lehigh Valley women’s soccer team and men’s soccer teams at their games against the Essex County Community College women’s and men’s teams on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Students from Blue and White Society passed out Homecoming Week T-shirts provided by Student Affairs. Soft pretzels and lemonade was served to attendees which was sponsored by the Office of Development.

About 20 faculty, staff and Penn State alumni enjoyed a happy hour and food truck night on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Cave Brewing Company in Allentown.

That same evening, more than 100 students attended the annual student Blue and White Society Bash held on campus. The picnic-style event featured music, food and games.

The homecoming celebration continued in southside Bethlehem where hundreds of fans gathered at Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks to watch the Penn State vs. Maryland football game on the big screen.

On Saturday, Sept. 28, hundreds of people visited campus for multiple events open to the community, including photos with the Nittany Lion Shrine, tours of campus during Penn State Day Fall Open House and the Penn State Lehigh Valley Car Club’s Fall Charity Car Show.
