UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Over the past year and a half, the majority of Penn State email accounts have been migrated to Office 365’s email and calendar service. This has been part of a University-wide transition to Office 365, which offers increased security and reliability as well as a modern interface that improves user experience. This October, the final phase of that transition will begin as all remaining Penn State email accounts are migrated to Office 365 or Microsoft Outlook Online.

The remaining accounts vary in type but consist primarily of Penn State retiree and emeritus faculty accounts. Retirees will be contacted directly by mail and email about the transition, and are encouraged to visit the retiree page on the University’s Office 365 website to learn more. Emeritus faculty members will be contacted by the lead IT professional in their area.

All current faculty, students and staff who have not yet been migrated will also be contacted by IT. After migration, current faculty, students, staff and emeriti will benefit from access to the full Office 365 suite, which includes familiar applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as new productivity tools such as Teams, OneNote, Planner, and more.

Affiliates of Penn State with sponsored email accounts will be contacted directly about the status of their accounts by the department or college they are associated with.
