Speaker uses his attempted suicide as a platform to uplift others

Kevin Hines -- renowned mental health advocate, storyteller and author -- will speak at at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at Penn State Altoona.

At 19, Hines attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. He is featured in the documentary film "Suicide: The Ripple Effect," which chronicles his personal journey before and after his suicide attempt and the effect it had on his family and friends. Today, Hines travels the globe spreading a message of hope, recovery, and wellness. He will offer a question-and-answer session after he speaks.

The event is free and open to students, faculty, and staff. Those who plan to attend should RSVP online.
