Free events set for Oct. 4-5; football ticket discount available for Alumni Association members

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Homecoming 2019 will be one of the most memorable weekends of the year in Happy Valley, and the Penn State Alumni Association is hosting a number of free events that are available for alumni and friends on Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 4-5.

Enjoy free Berkey Creamery ice cream at the popular student-alumni ice cream social at the Hintz Family Alumni Center. The high-energy event is set for 1-3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, with performances from the Alumni Blue Band. Special guests typically stop by, creating some memorable photo opportunities.

Also, Alumni Association members are invited to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Homecoming with a special Alumni Association rate for the football game against Purdue game on Oct. 5. Single-game parking passes can be purchased at $25 each if purchased by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20. General car parking can be purchased on game day for $60 (subject to availability). To purchase parking online, click here. Parking passes also can be purchased by calling 1-800-NITTANY.

Additional Homecoming highlights:

  • Head downtown for the Homecoming Parade, starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. Cheer on alumni groups and student organizations while enjoying the pageantry that overtakes the town on one of the best nights of the year.
  • Immediately following the Homecoming Parade, visit the Nittany Lion Shrine, where Lion Ambassadors will host Guard the Lion Shrine. Live music, food and photo opportunities will be available for everyone.
  • Before enjoying the game on Saturday, Oct. 5, start your day at the Nittany Lion Inn, with Kirk French presenting at Huddle with the Faculty. French is an associate teaching professor of anthropology at Penn State and the director and executive producer of Land and Water Revisited.
