Technology resource guides available for faculty and students

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Whether you are new to Penn State or just starting a new semester, now is a great time to become better acquainted with the University’s many technologies and technical services.

Penn State IT has updated both its student and faculty technology guides, which can help you locate frequently used sites and services quickly, and discover services you weren’t aware of before.

This year’s student guide, which can be found at connecttotech.psu.edu, features a simple “Get Started” section that introduces new students to important information such as how to set up their Penn State Access Account. It also has a section dedicated to physical locations that offer high-tech resources — such as the Maker Commons and One Button Studio — as well as a section for services specifically used by graduate students.

The updated faculty technology guide can be found at it.psu.edu/faculty. Curated into sections, faculty can now easily explore teaching and research tools and connect to human resources platforms like WorkLion. Technology training and professional development services are also featured, including IT Learning and Development (LRN) and the newly launched LinkedIn Learning

Both resource guides highlight the IT Service Desk, which provides troubleshooting and help with technical services, programs and devices. The IT Service Desk can be accessed at on-campus locations, by phone or online via 24-hour chat.

The technology resource guides also can be accessed directly through the Canvas dashboard, under the “Resources” tab.
