Blood drive to be held Sept. 17 at Penn State Hazleton

HAZLETON, Pa. — Penn State Hazleton will host a blood drive on behalf of the American Red Cross on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The drive will be held in the Thomas M. Caccese Gymnasium in the Physical Education Building from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Walk-ins are welcome or appointments can be made on the Red Cross’ website.

For more information, contact Jennifer LaRegina, campus nurse, at 570-450-3029.

The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in the community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most people will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lifetime.

Download the Red Cross Blood Donor App on the App Store and Google Play, or text BLOODAPP to 90999. Through the app, donors can schedule appointments; view their blood type and results of their mini-physical; and track their donations.
