'Noontime U' highlights fall series of events at Penn State at the Navy Yard

MALVERN, Pa. — Bring your lunch and get ready to relax and learn at the new "Noontime U" series of talks at Penn State at the Navy Yard. The fall series focuses on sustainable living and kicks off with “Grow Your Own Food: Vegetable Gardening in the Space You Have” at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The lineup also includes “How to Waste Less Food and Save the Planet” on Thursday, Oct. 3, and “Climate Catastrophe Comes to Philadelphia” on Thursday, Nov. 14.

“It’s hard to step away from work, but sometimes you need to take a break to nourish your brain in another way,” said Suzanne Cruit, director of corporate and community relations at Penn State at the Navy Yard. “Penn State is all about expanding people’s horizons. We are offering these programs to give Navy Yard employees a convenient opportunity to use their lunchtime to unplug and learn something new.”

All Noontime U events are free and run from noon to 12:45 p.m.

Penn State at the Navy Yard will also host “Discover your Pathway to Financial Freedom” on Tuesday, Sept. 24, as part of the Morning Conversation Series. Sal Cocivera will discuss the steps needed to manage and reduce debt, grow your income, build wealth, and educate and empower yourself regarding your money and future.

Lunch-and-learn events for those interested in pursuing an MBA at Penn State will be hosted at the Navy Yard on Thursday, Sept. 19, and Thursday, Oct. 24.
