Fall Dependent Grant-in-Aid application deadline extended for faculty and staff

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — For Penn State faculty and staff wanting to take advantage of the Dependent Grant-In-Aid (GIA) benefit, the deadline to apply for the fall 2019 semester has been extended to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20. No exceptions will be made after the deadline. Please note that technical service employees’ deadlines are governed by the terms of their collective bargaining agreement.

The Dependent Grant-in-Aid benefit is a 75% discount on the tuition charge and applies to Penn State World Campus, University resident instruction at all campuses, and the Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Employees must complete a new GIA request form on or before the deadline each semester or summer session in which the GIA is to be applied.

The spring 2020 application period opens Oct. 9, and the deadline is Jan. 19, 2020.

Retirees, faculty and staff wishing to use the tuition discount for themselves do not need to submit any forms. The discount will automatically be applied through the Bursar's Office. Questions should be directed to HR Services at 814-865-1473.
