UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A free screening of the documentary film “Elephant Path / Njaia Njoku” will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the HUB-Robeson Center’s Freeman Auditorium on Penn State's University Park campus.
The film, directed by sculptor and filmmaker Todd McGrain, examines the state of the African forest elephant and the combination of political unrest, regional poverty and poaching that threatens the existence of this shrinking animal population.
Noted elephant behavioral biologist Andrea Turkalo and indigenous tracker Sessely Bernard join the filmmaker on this journey into Dzanga Bai in the Central African Republic, also known as the “village of elephants.”
Both McGrain and Turkalo will be in attendance to lead a Q&A session after the screening. The screening, which is free and open to the public, is co-sponsored by the organizations Eco Action at Penn State and the Sierra Club Moshannon Group.
