Behrend men win Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament

ERIE, Pa. — The Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team scored nine goals over two games at the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament. The team will face St. Vincent on Sept. 6.

The college’s cross-country, golf and volleyball teams also were in action last week. Here are the highlights:

Men’s soccer

Penn State Behrend 3, Baldwin Wallace 2

Penn State Behrend 6, Alfred 3

Jordan Floyd, a freshman from Plum, scored four goals over two games and was named MVP of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament.

Women’s soccer

Kenyon 2, Penn State Behrend 0

Nazareth 3, Penn State Behrend 0

Brenna McGuire, a sophomore from McDonald, hit the post in the first half against Nazareth — one of seven shots by the Lions in the opening round of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament.

Men’s cross-country

Third (of 11 teams) at the Westminster Invite

Zach Wortman, a junior from St. Mary’s, placed sixth in the 8K, finishing in 25:56.00.

Women’s cross-country

Third (of 10 teams) at the Westminster Invite.

Jenna Shelton, a senior from Cabot, placed second in the 6K, finishing in 23:49.41. Riley Crissman, a senior from Bradford, was seventh, with a time of 25:03.32.

Men’s golf

Second (of 15 teams) at the Pitt-Bradford Fall Invitational

Jacob Marquardt, a freshman from Harmony, tied for fourth overall, carding a team-low 75.

Women’s volleyball

Penn State Behrend 3, SUNY Poly 0

Morrisville State 3, Penn State Behrend 2

Penn State Behrend 3, D’Youville 0

Middle hitter Alex Parra, a senior from Pittsburgh, hit a career-high 13 kills against SUNY Poly. Madison Clapper, a junior from Hollidaysburg, had a career-high 45 digs against Morrisville State.
