HERSHEY, Pa. — Sixty-nine incoming graduate students at Penn State College of Medicine, representing the disciplines of biomedical sciences, anatomy, epidemiology and public health marked the start of their studies by participating in the annual Graduate Student Oath Ceremony on Aug. 23 at the University Conference Center in Hershey.

The students promised during the ceremony to uphold the values of integrity, professionalism and scholarship throughout their academic careers. Symbolic of their initiation into the community of biomedical scientists, first-year biomedical sciences graduate students donned white lab coats. Public health students, who don’t put on a white coat, received a commemorative gift.
