2019 Penn State December break holiday schedule announced

August 22, 2019

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State has announced the 2019 December holidays operating schedule. University offices and operations, except for essential services and operations, will close at the normal end-of-business times on Friday, Dec. 20, and will resume at normal starting times on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020.

The official University holidays are Monday, Dec. 23, through Friday, Dec. 27, 2019; Monday, Dec. 30, 2019; and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020.

Tuesday, Dec. 31, is not a University holiday. Therefore, employees who choose to take that day off will charge their time to vacation or personal holiday, if Tuesday is a normal scheduled workday. Any individual who chooses to work will be permitted to do so; temperature conditions in the work area may be less than ideal.

This special holiday schedule will not increase the number of holidays granted. It will, however, provide a more desirable and efficient application of time off.

This schedule may not be applicable to areas who substitute service days in lieu of University holidays.

Questions regarding this holiday schedule should be directed to the appropriate work-unit human-resources contact.
