Campus Recreation to hold Open House on Aug. 21

All University Park faculty and staff are welcome to attend

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Campus Recreation, a unit of Penn State Student Affairs, will be holding an Open House Wednesday, Aug. 21, in the Intramural (IM) Building for all University Park faculty and staff. Patrons are encouraged to visit the IM Building between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. to tour the facilities, try classes and fitness equipment, and learn more about faculty and staff Campus Recreation membership options, which now include payroll deduction. Faculty and staff who plan to attend should bring their Penn State ID.

During the Open House, staff will be on hand to give tours and answer questions. Visitors are encouraged to bring their workout clothes and try out the fitness center, basketball courts, indoor track, racquetball courts, etc. Two free drop-in fitness classes -- Yoga, Room 16; and 360 Fit, Room 125; both from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. --will be offered during the lunch hour and the climbing wall will be open from 5 to 9 p.m.

Campus Recreation houses a number of programs that offer unique fitness and recreational opportunities for all members. A faculty and staff membership grants access to most of the programs and facilities -- including over 100 free drop-in fitness classes each semester, such as yoga, HIIT, barre fitness, power remix, and cycling -- in the White Building; McCoy Natatorium; and Hepper Fitness Center, IM Building. Information about memberships also will be available during the Open House. Memberships can be paid through monthly payroll deduction; minimum one-year commitment at less than $20 per month. In addition to monthly payroll deduction, faculty and staff have three other payment options to choose from: $50 per individual month, $95 per semester or $230 per year.
