Alumnus named to executive committee of Smeal real estate advisory board

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Smeal College of Business has named Evan Cohen as the newest member of the college’s Institute for Real Estate Studies Advisory Board Executive Committee.

Cohen, a 2007 Smeal accounting graduate, is a director at PwC. He has more than 12 years of experience in providing assurance and advisory services to companies in the real estate, infrastructure, asset management, and financial services industries. He also has experience within PwC’s national office, assisting clients in navigating complex business and technical issues, including application and adoption of new accounting standards.

His client experience consists of servicing open- and closed-ended real estate and infrastructure private equity funds, public mortgage and equity REITs, alternative investment funds, ‘40 act funds, and real estate joint ventures.

Cohen has frequently developed content and taught various internal and external courses, webcasts and training programs, focusing on accounting and auditing issues impacting the real estate and financial services industries.

He is a certified public accountant in New York and a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

The IRES Advisory Board includes business, government and education professionals who have an interest in promoting and financially supporting the real estate programs at Smeal. The board focuses on creating opportunities to enhance student educational experiences and support leading-edge research on real estate issues.
