WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Works of art conveying the positive outreach of helping and healing hands have been honored as winners in a recent art challenge coordinated by Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The Helping Hands/Healing Hands Art Challenge invited Pennsylvania elementary, middle and high school students to enter works of art in any medium. Awards were presented in two categories: grades K-6 and 7-12. The winning artists received a selection of art supplies and books.

Audrey Bodnar’s acrylic on canvas, titled “Warmth,” won the K-6 category. Bodnar recently completed sixth grade at Southern Columbia Middle School.
Olivia Gautieri’s woodburning, “Passing the Branch,” won the grades 7-12 category, with Rose Wascher’s “Holding Hands” pan pastel capturing an Honorable Mention in the same category. Gautieri and Wascher recently finished their junior years at Williamsport Area High School.
Deborah L. Stabley, an adjunct arts faculty member at Penn College, judged the entries.

The art challenge was inspired by the public television documentary film “Working Class: Helping & Healing,” highlighting the importance of the caring individuals who provide for the health and well-being of their communities.
Produced by Penn College and WVIA Public Media, “Working Class: Helping & Healing” is the fifth in a series of Telly Award-winning documentaries that connect career awareness and academic subjects.
