UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Rod Schultz has been named director of development and alumni relations for Penn State Law and the School of International Affairs, effective June 24.

In his most recent role, Schultz served as executive director of development, College of Law, with the University of Iowa Center for Advancement and Iowa Law School Foundation. He began his tenure there in 2016 and managed a multi-million-dollar program, worked extensively with a 36-member fiduciary board, aligned development and alumni relations functions, and collaborated with a new dean and leadership.

“We are tremendously fortunate to have a director of development and alumni relations of Rod’s caliber and experience joining us to lead our efforts,” said Hari M. Osofsky, dean of Penn State Law and the School of International Affairs. “Rod brings a deep understanding of development, including law development at another Big 10 school, and an enthusiastic commitment to work collaboratively to build fundraising and alumni engagement for both of our schools. I have great confidence that his leadership will be transformational in moving us forward to expand philanthropy and further build community among our alumni and friends.”

Prior to his position at Iowa, Schultz served as director of major gifts and capital support with Beloit College in Wisconsin and was managing associate director of development at Grinnell College. Earlier in his career, he worked in the financial services industry with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and the University of Iowa Community Credit Union.

Schultz earned a bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in economics from the University of Iowa, Tippie College of Business Administration. Among his numerous volunteer and professional activities, he has been a moderator/contributor at Association of American Law Schools conferences, served on Wisconsin area Chambers of Commerce, and is an avid road cyclist and former mountain bike coach.

“Penn State Law and the School of International Affairs are truly remarkable institutions,” said Schultz. “I look forward to partnering with Dean Osofsky and the entire Penn State community on the development and advancement of our strategic fundraising initiatives.”
