New two-factor authentication prompt arrives June 18

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — On June 18, an update to the two-factor authentication (2FA) prompt will take effect for WebAccess, the University’s authentication system that protects University email, Canvas, LionPATH and more. The appearance of the new prompt will be different, but its functionality will remain the same.

The new prompt will appear as a white box on the second login screen. The Penn State shield will appear in the upper left corner and green buttons will display the three access methods: sending a “push” code from a linked device, via a call, or by entering a passcode directly. Users should proceed as usual by choosing their preferred method.

The upgrade to the 2FA service also will increase security and allow for new features to be enabled, including a “Remember my device” feature that will allow users to log in with 2FA less frequently.
