Losses knock Behrend baseball team from conference tournament

ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend’s baseball team exited the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament after losses to La Roche and Penn State Altoona. The team will host the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships, beginning with the semifinals on May 18.

The college’s softball team also was in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:

Baseball

La Roche 13, Penn State Behrend 3

Penn State Behrend 9, Penn State Altoona 1

Mason McGuire, a senior from Pittsburgh, hit a solo home run — his third of the season — against La Roche.

Softball

Penn State Behrend 2, Albright 0

Pfeiffer 9, Penn State Behrend 1 (5 innings)

The team finished second in the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships. AJ Nichols, a senior from Pittsburgh, pitched a two-hit shutout against Albright. She struck out six batters.
