No. 25 women's lacrosse meets No. 1 Maryland in Big Ten semifinal

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 25 Penn State women's lacrosse team battles No. 1 Maryland on Friday at 5 p.m. in the Big Ten semifinals.  The Big Ten Tournament is being hosted by Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field in Baltimore.  Friday's matchup will be broadcast on Big Ten Network with Dean Linke, play-by-play, and Sheehan Stanwick Burch, color analyst.

Penn State meets Maryland in Friday's first semifinal, followed by No. 2 seed Northwestern vs. No. 3 seed Michigan at 7:30.  The winners will advance to Sunday's Big Ten Championship, scheduled for noon on Big Ten Network.

The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, finished the regular season with an 8-8 overall record, including 3-3 in Big Ten play.  Penn State won four of its final six games, including wins over Ohio State, Duquesne, No. 21 Johns Hopkins and Rutgers.  The Nittany Lions are ranked 25th in this week's IWLCA Poll.

Maryland, coached by Cathy Reese, is 17-0 overall, including 6-0 in the Big Ten, after a 19-12 win over No. 23 Johns Hopkins.  The Terrapins moved up to No. 1 in this week's IWLCA Poll.
