“As Penn State Health continues to evolve into a regional health care system with new inpatient and outpatient settings and new partnerships with community-based providers, all designed to improve patients’ access to care, Annemarie’s broad health care legal expertise will be a tremendous benefit,” said Dr. Craig Hillemeier, dean, Penn State College of Medicine; CEO, Penn State Health; and senior vice president for health affairs, Penn State.

Also of benefit will be Boyan’s long history of providing legal advice and counsel to health care organizations and university health systems.

“As deputy general counsel for health care at Rutgers University, she guided senior leadership on health care-related matters affecting Rutgers Biomedical Health Science schools, institutes and practices,” said Stephen S. Dunham, vice president and general counsel for Penn State. “She also played a key role in business transactions that supported extensive growth initiatives, experience that will be essential as we broaden our network.”

Prior to joining Rutgers University, Boyan served the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as associate general counsel and worked for Temple University Health System, advancing from associate to senior counsel.

As a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Boyan makes time to mentor young attorneys. She also mentors young women as a volunteer for Reach to Teach and Center for Family Services.

Boyan is a graduate of Temple University School of Law. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, magna cum laude, from Temple University.
