MONT ALTO, Pa. — The Penn State Mont Alto Chorale will host its fifth annual Choral Festival on May 4 in the Multipurpose Activities Center (MAC) during a grand evening of choral musical performances. The Chorale will be joined by five other local schools, totaling about 185 student voices. The festival will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is open to the public. General Admission tickets will be $5 per person at the door.

The Mont alto Chorale will be joined by Fairfield Area High School’s Stars of the Knight Chamber Singers, Governor Thomas Johnson High School, Shalom Christian Academy’s Tour Choir, Shippensburg Middle School’s Accidentals, and Waynesboro Area Senior High School’s Chamber Choir.

A wide variety of choral music will be performed by the schools throughout the evening and the event will culminate with a group choral performance of “Let the River Run,” originally recorded by Carly Simon as the theme from the motion picture "Working Girl."

"We're very excited to welcome some of the area's finest choral singers to the Penn State Mont Alto campus,” said Penn State Mont Alto Music Instructor J. Frederick Davison. “Our annual choral festival has continued to grow and is a great opportunity to put choral music at center stage in south-central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland.”

The Choral Festival is sponsored by the Mont Alto Chorale and is underwritten by the Miner Choir Endowment, funded in 2013 by Kathryn Miner.

In addition to underwriting the campus’s Annual Choral Festival, the Miner Choir Endowment provides funding for the Chorale to perform on and off campus each semester.
