WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Three Pennsylvania College of Technology students, all enrolled in the four-year aviation maintenance technology major, have received scholarships from Helicopter Foundation International/Helicopter Association International.
Sophomore Cody C. Bentzel, of Williamsport, and junior Ethan J. Mutschler, of Mifflinburg, were awarded first- and third-place Bill Sanderson Aviation Maintenance Technology scholarships, respectively, that provide a tuition waiver for a helicopter manufacturer training school and a stipend to offset expenses.
Bentzel will attend the Leonardo A139 helicopter system factory school (a $13,000 value). Mutschler will attend the Pratt & Whitney Engine factory school ($5,000 value).
Hamin Kim, of Seoul, South Korea, a sophomore, was awarded a Maintenance Technician Certificate scholarship that provides $2,500 to use for FAA certification exams.
In March, William F. Stepp III, an associate professor of aviation in the college’s School of Transportation & Natural Resources Technologies, attended the HAI Heli-Expo in Atlanta.
Bentzel, Mutschler and Kim join 15 other Penn College students honored by HFI/HAI over the past 15 years; total scholarship amounts awarded to those students by the committee exceed $150,000.
