Elizabeth Huck has been hired as an instructional designer at Penn State Hazleton, Chancellor Gary Lawler announced.

“We welcome Elizabeth Huck to the staff at Penn State Hazleton. Technology is a crucial part of learning in today’s world and we look forward to seeing the new ideas and improvements she will contribute to our classrooms and the resources available to students at the campus,” Lawler said.

In her role, Huck will work with faculty, staff and administration to develop strategies to integrate technology into the classroom and learning environments. She will also coordinate various projects related to learning technologies development and create learning resources as part of course design.

Huck will assist faculty in developing and maintaining knowledge in instructional techniques and materials, providing training and technical guidance to faculty and staff on instructional technology application and distance delivery methods when necessary. She will also work with Information Technology staff to support campus technology and technology classrooms and to resolve issues related to technology use in teaching.

Huck will work with Penn State’s Shared Programs, facilitating technology between campuses to enable students to take courses in their program at their chosen campus. Working with faculty members, she will assist in developing online and hybrid courses, particularly for shared degree programs.

Huck previously worked as an instructional designer at Wilkes University, where she collaborated to develop online courses and created training courses and material for face-to-face and online instructors. She also trained faculty on the use of the university’s learning management system along with best practices in online teaching and educational technology topics.

She served as an Excel instructor for Penn State Hazleton’s Department of Continuing Education. For 12 years, Huck taught business and information technology to high school and middle school students in the Pardeeville Area School District in Pardeeville, Wisconsin, where she also worked as a technology integrator for three years, collaborating with educators to effectively integrate technology into classrooms.

Huck has experience leading and organizing a variety of professional development opportunities, including Facilitating Learning Online at Wilkes University, Teaching with Technology Week at Wilkes University, a Google Integration Group at Pardeeville High School and TechnoPardee Weekend Technology Academy at Pardeeville High School, where she also offered a graduate credit option for teachers through Viterbo University in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

She holds a master of education degree from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and a bachelor’s degree in business education from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. She is pursuing her doctorate of education in educational leadership and educational technology from Wilkes University.
