Lauten named EIVA Defensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's volleyball redshirt junior Henrik Falck Lauten was named the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week for his performance the week of March 18-24 as announced by the league Monday afternoon. 

Falck Lauten had a stellar all-around game in Penn State's lone match of the week, a 3-0 sweep of Ohio State last Tuesday. He had a game-high eight digs, including seven in the third set in critical situations, and had 16 serve receptions against just one error for the match.

The Drammen, Norway native also had an efficient offensive outing with a team-best 10 kills while hitting .500 for the match (10-2-16). He has now recorded double-digit kills in six of his last seven matches.

Falck Lauten has also gathered at least four digs in eight of the last nine matches with 44 total digs over that span. He ranks second on the team with 94 digs behind EIVA-leader Will Bantle (136) while also ranking third on the team with 41 total blocks.

The weekly award is the first for Falck Lauten in his career and the second honor earned by a Nittany Lion this season. Jason Donorovich won EIVA Defensive Player of the Week Jan. 28 after recording 15 blocks over two matches.
