Vanessa German Art Exhibit set to open April 2 at Penn State Greater Allegheny

MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Penn State Greater Allegheny will host an exclusive art exhibit on the campus in McKeesport, from April 2 to 6. The gallery will be located in the Traina Room of the Student Community Center and will feature art from upcoming Crossing Bridges Summit speaker, Vanessa German, a visual and performance artist from Homewood, Pennsylvania. The exhibit is free to the public. 

The gallery’s hours are: 

  • Tuesday, April 2 — Noon-1:30 p.m., 3-5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 3 — Noon-1:30 p.m., 5-7 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 4 — Noon-1:30 p.m., 5-7 p.m.
  • Friday, April 5 — 10 a.m.-noon, 3-7 p.m., 8-10 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 6 — 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

On Friday, April 5, 2019, German will take the stage in the Ostermayer Room of the Student Community Center and become the 4th keynote speaker of the Crossing Bridges Summit. 

The Crossing Bridges Summit, in its second year, considers ways in which Penn State Greater Allegheny can serve as a catalyst for social change and bridge racial divides in the community, through four pillars: speaker series, unity talks, summit talks and the visiting scholar series.  

The summit continues at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, in the Ostermayer Room of the Student Community Center, to discuss how campus and community members can take German’s ideas and implement them within the Mon Valley.
