2018-19 performance management cycle nears end for University staff

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — For University staff employees, the final step of the 2018-19 performance management cycle, the end-of-year review, begins Monday, April 1, and should be completed by Friday, May 31.

“The last step in the annual performance management cycle includes an important self-evaluation for staff employees and a review by their respective manager. Together, these are important steps in assessing and further developing our talented staff employees,” said Sara Oliver-Carter, senior director of talent, diversity and inclusion for Penn State Human Resources.

Before completing the end-of-year review, staff employees must complete the mid-year check-in, along with updating their Job Responsibilities Worksheet.

For managers, if there is anything pending manager approval, i.e. staff goals, mid-year check-in, etc., their staff will not receive the end-of-year event notification in Workday. It’s important that managers complete the necessary approvals to ensure a smooth end-of-year review process.

To help managers and staff prepare for the end-of-year review, HR has provided a variety of trainings and resources within the WorkLion Knowledge Base, including the following trainings via Zoom:

There also are step-by-step instructions for employees and managers on how to complete this process in Workday, as well as a brief tutorial video.

Staff employees and managers are welcome to contact HR Services with questions regarding this year’s performance management cycle by calling 814-865-1473 or by submitting an inquiry via WorkLion.
