The Penn State Student Programming Association has announced a concert by rapper Denzel Curry at 8 p.m. on April 4, in the HUB-Robeson Center’s Alumni Hall. The performance is free for all students with a valid Penn State University Park Student Photo ID and is funded by the student-initiated fee.
Curry has broken through the mainstream with his hip-hop sound that focuses on the many parts of his life, positive or negative. He released his debut album, "Nostalgic 64," in 2013 which featured JK the Reaper, Lil Ugly Mane, and more.
Since Curry’s start, he has been making music in a group as well as a solo artist. Since his separation to working solo, he appeared on Billboard’s Emerging Artists Top 10 at number seven. In 2018 he released his album, "TA13OO," which received attention from Billboard and other publications. It debuted at number six on Billboard’s Rap Chart and at number 28 on the Top 200 chart.
Out of all Curry’s musical endeavors, "TA13OO" proves itself to be one of his most unique and groundbreaking. He uses his voice to explore topics like politics, fame, love, and even his own anecdotes about near-death experiences. Curry isn’t a cookie-cutter rapper. he takes his music’s sound into a new direction, especially on his recent project by reflecting the album’s vibe through sounds of paranoia, fear and loss.
