STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI) invites facility professionals to register for its upcoming facilities management course — Fundamentals of High Performance Buildings (FHPB). Scheduled for April 23 to 25 at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center in State College, the FHPB course previously has only been offered to General Services Administration (GSA) personnel.

“The response to this course from our GSA clients over the years has been excellent, and many of our clients have commented on how informational it has been,” said William Lash, PSFEI educational program manager. “With an increased push in both private and public sectors for greener, cleaner and more sustainable buildings and technologies, we wanted to offer this course to other companies and organizations as well.”

The FHPB course helps participants gain an understanding of high-performance sustainable infrastructure. Facilities professionals will learn the technologies that optimize system efficiency and promote sustainability, resulting in a high-performance building.

Taught in a relaxed atmosphere, the FHPB course is divided into eight sections:

  • HVAC Technologies
  • Sustainability
  • Lighting
  • Water Efficiency
  • Building Envelope
  • Utilities
  • Power Purchase Agreements
  • Energy Savings Performance Contracts

The second PSFEI facilities management course to be offered to the general public, the FHPB course is a follow-up to the previously offered 2018 course — Facility Infrastructure Fundamentals Training. The FHPB course is the only facilities management course of its kind scheduled to be offered by PSFEI in 2019. The deadline to register is April 16.
